If you’ve never heard of Credit Unions then you are not alone

Credit unions are financial co-operatives, owned and controlled by their members and run for the benefit of their members. Membership is based on the idea of a ‘common bond’. This means all members have something in common such as with Falkirk District Credit Union where anyone who lives or works within the area covered by the boundary of Falkirk Council can join.

Credit unions offer great value, you don’t get paid interest on savings in the same way as other savings accounts, instead you are paid a dividend that will vary from year to year. As well credit unions give access to low cost loans to members, Falkirk District Credit Union offer rates of 12.68% APR (1% a month on a reducing balance), something to think about when some door step lenders are advertising rates of 254.5% and 499% APR!!

In Falkirk District Credit Union you will not be able to borrow until you’ve built up a history of saving – but this can take as little as 3 months. This is because we don’t take your credit history into account and we will lend you small amounts of money unlike most other financial institutions.

Collection points are throughout the Falkirk area, you can pay by standing order, payroll deduction (if your employer has agreed), PayPoint or by cash or cheque at a collection point.

All this and free loans and savings insurance as well

Can you afford not to join??

Dear Friend, Here at the Community Flat we are in the process of evaluating the service we deliver to the local community. For the development of the project we would be grateful if you would fill in the attached questionnaire, this will hopefully prevent us from duplicating a service already available within the Denny area. Please could you return this to us by Monday 22nd February. The forms will also be available on our website to allow you to email it. If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact us. Yours truly, Lynne Belton Lynne Belton Community Learning and Development Worker
